Cathedral City, CA (February 21, 2026) – A deadly crash early Friday morning closed several eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near the Bob Hope Dr exit. The crash was reported just before 6:40 a.m. Immediately west of the off-ramp. Initial reports described a two-vehicle collision where both cars were flipped over. Officials stated that the vehicles ended up off the road in a desert region close to a body of water. One vehicle was identified as a silver Lexus, though details on the second vehicle were not yet verified. Emergency crews arrived, blocking lanes 3 and 4 while they handled the incident. One individual was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center for medical care. The crash resulted in at least one reported death. Tow trucks were called to clear the two vehicles, which were said to be about 100 feet from the road. Vehicles were rerouted off the freeway, temporarily closing the Date Palm on-ramp.
