Hit-and-run accidents happen when a driver flees the scene of a crash without offering assistance or revealing their identity. Such incidents can postpone medical care for victims, potentially aggravating injuries or leading to deaths. Crashes with large vehicles like semi-trucks tend to be serious because of the significant size and weight disparity relative to passenger cars. Even one collision can result in deadly injuries in smaller cars. Investigators examine vehicle damage, eyewitness statements, and surveillance video to identify hit-and-run drivers.
