Carmichael, CA (April 7, 2026) – A Ford GT and an SUV collided Monday in Carmichael, California—a Sacramento suburb—leaving two people with serious injuries. The incident took place on Sunday, April 5, when emergency services were dispatched to the location. Reports and video footage from the scene show the Ford GT and SUV colliding as the SUV merged from a parking lot. The collision caused the GT to spin out and hit a concrete barrier, propelling the vehicle over it and resulting in severe damage. Both occupants of the Ford GT were extracted from the car and taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. No further information on their condition has been disclosed, and it’s unknown whether anyone in the SUV was injured. Officials are still probing the cause of the crash, with additional details to follow as they emerge. We’re thinking of those injured as they receive medical care. How Speed Differentials and Lane Merges Can Lead to Crashes. Crashes frequently occur when vehicles moving at varying speeds converge in the same lane, particularly near on-ramps or parking lot merges. Even if a faster car isn’t speeding, an abrupt lane change or sluggish merge can still pose a collision hazard. High-performance cars, such as supercars, are especially susceptible in these scenarios due to their rapid acceleration and momentum amplifying the impact force. When such a vehicle collides with a barrier or another car, occupants may suffer severe injuries from abrupt deceleration and rotational forces. These accidents frequently necessitate emergency extrication, as extensive damage can pin people inside.
