(Fresno, CA) A husband and wife died in a Highway 43183 crash on Monday night, December 29, after a suspected DUI driver collided head-on with their vehicle. The incident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. south of Ford Avenue. According to CHP, 30-year-old Shawn Borecha from Riverside was driving south on Highway 145 when he tried to pass two vehicles. Consequently, he swerved into the northbound lane. His car crashed head-on into a Hyundai driven by Carlos Pimentel, 69, and his wife, Maria, 62, both from Coalinga. The couple was pronounced dead at the scene. Borecha sustained minor injuries. Police arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence and several felony counts, including manslaughter.
