(Woodcrest, CA) A motorcyclist died in a Wednesday evening crash on Gardner Avenue when an SUV turned into his path at a busy intersection, according to the California Highway Patrol. The incident occurred just after 5 p.m. at the crossroads of Gardner Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard. Investigators stated that Brent Hoquist, 35, from Corona, was riding a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Van Buren Boulevard. CHP Officer Javier Navarro reported that a 24-year-old woman from Riverside was driving a Dodge SUV westbound on Van Buren. At one point, she turned left onto Gardner Avenue. Hoquist hit the vehicle’s right front side. This caused him to be thrown from the bike, per CHP. Paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department arrived minutes later and discovered deputies administering CPR. Even after lifesaving attempts, officials declared Hoquist dead on site. The SUV driver came to an immediate stop, worked with investigators, and sustained no injuries.
