(San Diego, CA) A 60-year-old bicyclist died Wednesday evening in a crash on Salmon River Road in Rancho Peñasquitos after a vehicle struck him. The incident occurred around 5:35 p.m. on the 12900 block of Salmon River Road. According to investigators, a 51-year-old woman in a northbound Toyota Camry struck the rear tire of the cyclist. The driver allegedly informed officers that she “did not see” the cyclist. Paramedics declared the man dead at the scene. SDPD stated that alcohol did not seem to be a factor. Officers from the Traffic Division are investigating the incident, and officials are asking anyone with details to reach out to police or Crime Stoppers. Analysis of the Salmon River Road Crash. This law mandates that drivers provide cyclists with a minimum of three feet of clearance while overtaking them and take care when sharing the road.
