A 57-year-old cyclist sustained severe injuries following a collision on Oliver Avenue in Pacific Beach on Sunday night, where a vehicle hit and ran over him. The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. on September 21. The accident on Oliver Avenue took place at the crossroads of Ingraham Street. The San Diego Police Department reported that a 31-year-old man in a Mazda CX-5 was driving north when he ran a stop sign and collided with a bicyclist traveling east, causing the rider to fall to the ground in front of the SUV. According to the police, the driver exited the vehicle without shifting the Mazda into park, resulting in the car rolling forward and hitting the injured cyclist. The SUV subsequently crashed into a curb and a metal gate. Emergency responders arrived promptly and took the injured person to a hospital with several broken ribs. Authorities verified that the driver was sober. The Traffic Division of the San Diego Police Department is still looking into the accident that occurred on Oliver Avenue.
