A 55-year-old cyclist suffered severe injuries on November 5th in a Pacific Beach crash, according to authorities. The incident occurred on Grand Avenue when the cyclist was hit by an SUV, as reported by the San Diego Police Department. The crash took place around 8:33 p.m. in the 1100 block of Grand Avenue, close to Everts Street. Investigators reported that the cyclist tried to make a turn and moved into the eastbound No. 1 lane of Grand Avenue. Just then, a 23-year-old female driver of a Ford Escape hit him. The officers discovered him lying on the road with serious leg wounds. He was taken to a hospital by paramedics and received treatment for a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula, as well as a broken femur. The driver stayed at the location and worked with the police. The SDPD Traffic Division is still looking into the details of the incident.
