On November 7th, a fatal accident occurred on PCH in Dana Point, CA. Barry William Tutt, 71, was killed after being hit by a driver who is believed to have been intoxicated. The driver then fled the scene. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department received reports of the collision around noon near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Dana Point Harbor Drive. Upon the officers’ arrival, Tutt was discovered to be seriously wounded. He was then taken to a close-by medical facility by paramedics, where he eventually passed away. Initial findings suggest that a silver Ford car struck Mr. Tutt, who then fled the scene. Using information from witnesses, deputies found the suspect, Humberto Munoz Gatica, 57, from Laguna Niguel. He was taken into custody and placed in the Orange County Jail on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run offenses. The OCSD Major Accident Investigation Team is still looking into the details of the deadly crash.
