Bakersfield, CA (September 17, 2025) – A tragic pedestrian accident took place late Monday night in Bakersfield, resulting in one man’s death after he was hit by two different vehicles on Union Avenue, as reported by the Bakersfield Police Department. The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. on September 15, in the 3300 block of Union Avenue. Emergency personnel from Bakersfield Fire and the nearby EMS were sent to the location, where they discovered the individual positioned on the street. Unfortunately, the pedestrian was declared dead upon arrival as a result of his serious injuries. Authorities report that the man was crossing Union Ave eastbound outside of a marked crosswalk when he was first hit by a vehicle. Shortly after, another car hit the victim a second time and then left the scene before the police could show up. The initial driver stayed at the scene and actively assisted with the inquiry. Currently, the name of the deceased person has not been disclosed as the family has yet to be informed. Authorities are still looking for the driver of the second car that was part of the hit-and-run incident. Authorities shut down the road for several hours overnight to gather evidence and piece together what happened.
