Bakersfield, CA (October 21, 2025) – On Sunday night, four people were taken to the hospital after a rollover accident in Bakersfield, which officials attribute to speeding. The crash occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. On October 19, close to the junction of Shadow Hills Dr and Alfred Harrel Hwy, just east of Fairfax Rd, a 17-year-old driver from Bakersfield, operating a 2020 white Toyota Camry, was reported by the California Highway Patrol to be driving east on Alfred Harrel Hwy at speeds allegedly over 80 mph. The young driver lost control, causing the car to veer into the westbound lanes before running off onto the north shoulder. The vehicle subsequently tumbled down a steep slope and ended up standing upright on the dirt shoulder of Shadow Hills Dr. First responders arrived at the location and took all four passengers to local hospitals. Injuries varied from moderate to severe, with one passenger reported as being in critical condition at the time of the update. The authorities have yet to disclose the identities of those affected, and the incident is still being investigated.
