Modesto, CA (May 26, 2026) – A passenger on an ATV sustained serious injuries after the vehicle collided with a parked trailer near the 24000 block of E. Gawne Road in Modesto. According to California Highway Patrol dispatch reports, the two-vehicle crash occurred on Sunday, May 25, near Memorial Modesto. Early reports suggested the ATV collided with a stationary trailer around midnight. A caller later informed investigators that the injured passenger had already been taken to a hospital by the time the report was filed. According to records, the passenger suffered a fractured C7 vertebra, a broken elbow, injuries to both knees, lacerations, and possible internal bleeding. The driver of the ATV was not present at the hospital, and their location was unknown when the report was filed. Additional details about those involved have not been released, though investigators continue to collect information about the ATV accident and the events that led up to it. Our thoughts are with the injured passenger, and we wish them a complete and speedy recovery.
Why ATV Crashes Typically Result in Serious Injuries. ATVs provide minimal physical protection during a road accident, greatly raising the chance of severe injury if the rider collides with another vehicle or a stationary object. Rollover and side-impact crashes are also frequent due to the ATV’s compact size and open structure. Head, neck, and spinal injuries are commonly reported in ATV collisions, particularly when riders are ejected or strike nearby objects. Medical teams routinely assess fractures, hemorrhaging, and internal injuries following these types of traffic collisions.
