Antioch, CA (May 5, 2026) – Authorities reported a single-vehicle injury crash on Tuesday morning, May 5, along eastbound State Route 4 near the Railroad Ave off-ramp in Antioch. The incident was initially recorded at approximately 6:12 a.m. Early reports show the vehicle ended up off the road on the right side. Emergency responders arrived and discovered a passenger on the ground near the vehicle, about 20 feet away. The events preceding the crash have not been fully outlined, though it was later categorized as an injury incident. Traffic in the vicinity faced disruptions due to multiple lanes being temporarily closed amid the emergency response. Crews performed traffic breaks to slow down vehicles while they cleared the area and safely towed away the damaged car. All lanes were later reopened once the roadway was cleared. Officials are still probing the reason behind the accident, with additional information to be shared as it emerges. Our thoughts go out to the injured as they get medical treatment. Why Vehicles Occasionally Veer Off the Roadway in Highway Accidents. Cars can veer off the road in a collision from abrupt steering maneuvers, loss of grip, or efforts to dodge another danger. These scenarios can lead to a driver losing control, particularly at higher speeds. When a vehicle leaves the roadway, it might hit uneven terrain, barriers, or roadside obstacles.
