Traffic near the Interstate 5 and Gene Autry Way junction can quickly become congested after accidents. Anaheim crews might reroute traffic as necessary during area incidents. Highway interchanges frequently combine vehicles traveling at varying speeds as drivers merge, exit, or switch lanes. Sudden slowdowns can happen in these transition areas when traffic conditions shift. If collisions occur there, crews may need to temporarily close ramps or lanes to help those involved and clear damaged vehicles. These steps help reestablish safer travel conditions after the roadway is cleared.
