A staff member of Los Angeles City Councilmember Katy Yaroslavsky was severely injured in a crash on 8th Street on Sunday morning when she was hit by a pickup truck while walking her dog in the Miracle Mile area, as reported by authorities. The Los Angeles Police Department stated that the incident took place on October 7 at approximately 8:30 a.m. close to the intersection of 8th Street and Cloverdale Avenue. At the time of the incident, the woman, who was part of Yaroslavsky’s team, was walking her dog. Out of nowhere, a Toyota pickup truck, thought to have ignored a stop sign, collided with both individuals. Upon the arrival of paramedics, they took the woman to a hospital. The dog did not make it. Authorities reported that the truck came to a brief halt before driving away from the location. The woman who was driving later turned herself in to the police, resulting in her being charged with a felony for hit-and-run. As a result of Los Angeles County’s no-bail policy, she was issued a citation and released while awaiting her court appearance. The victim is currently in serious condition and was admitted to the hospital with several fractures.
