A traffic collision was reported at about 3:46 p.m. Aug. 28 on southbound Interstate 880 near the Winton Avenue off-ramp in California. CHP dispatch classified the incident as a collision with an ambulance en route.
The reported location was just south of Winton Avenue, before lanes connect near the off-ramp. The involved vehicle or vehicles were reported on the right-hand side of the freeway.
A CHP update at 3:54 p.m. placed the vehicles on the right side before the connecting lanes. The dispatch information did not specify the number or types of vehicles involved.
CHP did not provide an injury assessment in the available updates. The dispatch also did not document a lane closure, a vehicle fire, or towing activity.
