A traffic collision was reported Aug. 20, 2026, near Interstate 605 and Whittier Boulevard in the Santa Fe Springs area. The incident was first classified as a collision with unknown injuries before CHP updated the call to indicate an ambulance was en route.
The initial report came in at about 3:47 p.m. CHP’s location listing referenced southbound I-605 at Whittier Boulevard, while the location description placed the incident on northbound 605 just north of the boulevard.
CHP updated the incident classification at approximately 3:51 p.m. The available dispatch information did not identify the number or types of vehicles involved.
The dispatch also did not specify any lane closures, roadway blockage, confirmed injuries or additional emergency response. The ambulance response indicates medical assistance was being sent to the collision scene.
