(Vista, CA) On Friday night, November 14, a pedestrian was fatally struck by an SUV on South Melrose Drive in Vista. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies arrived at the scene around 8:14 p.m. to the 300 block on South Melrose Drive. They received information about a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered the victim lying in a lane heading north. Deputies and paramedics initiated life-saving procedures before transporting the pedestrian to a close hospital for further treatment. When the doctors arrived, they declared the victim dead at 8:45 p.m. The driver of the gray Toyota RAV4 stayed at the location and fully assisted the investigators. Authorities stated that drugs or alcohol did not seem to play a role in the accident.
