A pedestrian lost his life due to a tragic accident on Interstate 5 early Monday morning when a Ford Mustang hit him close to Basilone Road in the northern part of San Diego County. This incident occurred on September 22, shortly before 12:30 a.m. The California Highway Patrol was notified about a pedestrian walking in the southbound traffic on Interstate 43183. Authorities reported that a Ford Mustang in the vicinity struck the man, resulting in life-threatening injuries. First responders arrived promptly but pronounced the victim deceased at the location. The authorities have not disclosed his identity yet. CHP public affairs officer Jared Grieshaber mentioned that there is no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role in the driver’s condition. Nonetheless, it remains unclear to investigators if the pedestrian’s impairment could have contributed to the incident. The driver of the Mustang stayed at the location and collaborated with police during the inquiry. Parts of Interstate 5 were closed for several hours as officials carried out their investigation. Authorities are still looking into the circumstances that led to the man being on the freeway that evening. A legal examination of the Interstate 5 accident is ongoing.
