A motorist tragically lost their life and their passenger suffered an injury on November 17th, during a freeway collision in Beaumont, California. This unfortunate incident occurred when a tire from another car flew off and shattered the windshield of their minivan on the 60 Freeway. The California Highway Patrol confirmed the accident at around 4:31 a.m. on the westbound lane of the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway close to Jack Rabbit Trail. CHP Officer Ricardo Palomera reported that a 2011 BMW 328i, operated by 54-year-old Philip Neil McKeehan from Riverside, was heading east. Suddenly, the left rear tire of the car came off and flew into the air. The tire flew over the middle barrier, colliding with the front window and roof of a 2017 Toyota Sienna traveling westbound. This collision forced the Sienna to swerve towards the center divider, ultimately leaving the road and crashing into a slope. When authorities arrived, they declared the 68-year-old man from Los Angeles, who was driving the Toyota, dead. A 54-year-old woman from Santa Ana, who was his passenger, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Riverside University Medical Center. McKeehan remained unharmed, and there were no other vehicles implicated in the incident. CHP investigators are looking into how the tire came loose. Summary of the collision on the 60 Freeway.
