San Bernardino, CA (May 18, 2026) – A man lost his life after a fire erupted inside a commercial building in San Bernardino on Sunday, May 17. The blaze was reported just after 6:30 a.m. In the 500 block of North D Street, emergency responders arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of a single-story commercial building. Crews initially operated from outside the building, then moved inside once conditions permitted. Upon entering, they discovered an adult male who had died inside. His identity was withheld from the first report. The blaze was extinguished within around 30 minutes. Officials reported no additional injuries, though the fire inflicted significant damage on the building. The matter is still under investigation.
