A head-on collision took place near Sweetwater Reservoir on Jamacha Road over the weekend, resulting in the death of a 50-year-old woman and injuring several others, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The accident happened just before 9 p.m. On Saturday, October 18, at Jamacha Road close to Darby Street. According to CHP officials, the victim was driving a 2021 Nissan Rogue in a westward direction. At one instance, a 2010 Toyota Camry traveling east crossed over a concrete median and collided with her car. Medics took the woman to a trauma center, where doctors ultimately declared her deceased. Her name has not been disclosed yet as the family needs to be informed first. Two drivers and one other adult suffered severe injuries. A third victim, a young child traveling in the Toyota, was transported to the hospital for assessment. Officer Jasmine Lopez from the CHP stated that authorities suspect that being under the influence may have played a role in the collision on Jamacha Road.
