In Bakersfield, CA, a tragic DUI accident on Panama Lane resulted in the death of a young child on Sunday morning. Several family members were also injured, and a 20-year-old driver was arrested. The incident occurred at approximately 7:41 a.m. on September 28. Police officers in Bakersfield arrived at the scene of an accident at the intersection of Cottonwood Road and East Panama Lane. Authorities found a black car and a white SUV that were involved in a severe accident on East Panama Lane in the 2600 block. Authorities found that both cars were headed west when the sedan collided with the back of the SUV at a high velocity. The collision resulted in the SUV flipping over and the sedan veering off the road, ultimately colliding with a nearby vineyard. A woman and her seven-month-old child inside the SUV suffered injuries that ranged from minor to moderate. A six-year-old child, named Azmeret by their relatives, sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to Orange County Children’s Hospital. Unfortunately, Azmeret passed away the next morning. The 20-year-old driver of the sedan, Cesar Magana, exhibited signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested. He is currently confronting accusations such as severe vehicular manslaughter due to intoxication.
