On Monday evening, a collision in San Rafael caused a temporary blockage of all southbound lanes on Highway 101, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. Officers from CHP arrived at the scene shortly before 5 p.m. regarding a crash on the southbound side of Highway 101, located south of Freitas Parkway. Officials shut down all lanes while emergency personnel arrived to clean up the area. Before 5:40 p.m. Caltrans announced that the two right lanes were back in operation, but the left lanes were still shut for cleaning and inspection. Police fully cleared and reopened all lanes just before 6 p.m. It is still uncertain how many vehicles were part of the incident or whether there were any reported injuries. The CHP has not provided further information regarding the reason behind the accident. Summary of the Highway 101 Incident.
