A 6-year-old boy was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Chollas View neighborhood on University Avenue in San Diego, CA on October 25th, according to the San Diego Police Department. The incident occurred at approximately 6:50 p.m., as reported by Officer Jose Parales of the SDPD. in the 5400 section of University Avenue. It has been reported that a child was hit by a car traveling westbound while he was crossing the street in the middle of the block. The boy was rushed to a close hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Authorities reported that the vehicle was last spotted traveling north on 54th Street, and the driver is still at large. The investigation is being handled by the SDPD Traffic Division. When a driver flees the site of a fatal accident, investigators promptly take the Hit-and-Run Statute into account. This law mandates that any driver involved in a crash resulting in injury or death must stop, provide their identity, and help the victim. Not doing this is a felony and will be a major aspect of this case. Since the victim was a pedestrian, the Pedestrian Right-of-Way Law applies as well.
