On the night of November 7, a fatal accident occurred in Glendale, Arizona. A cyclist was hit by a car on 59th Avenue, close to Glendale Avenue. The Glendale Police Department reported that they dispatched officers and paramedics at approximately 11:00 p.m. to the intersection of 59th Avenue and McLellan Road after receiving reports of a pedestrian involved in a collision. Upon the officers’ arrival, it was ascertained that a cyclist had been hit and was already lifeless. The driver stayed on the scene and worked with investigators, according to the police. It is still unclear if impairment was a factor in the crash, and detectives are continuing to look into the details of the fatal incident. The identity of the cyclist has not been disclosed while waiting to inform family members. Summary of the crash on 59th Avenue. In Arizona, when a vehicle hits a cyclist, investigators frequently refer to the Bicycle Safety Statute. Drivers must keep a safe distance of at least three feet when passing a cyclist. Investigators will look into whether the driver did not offer enough space or awareness while driving on 59th Avenue. If speed played a role, the Reasonable and Prudent Speed Law will be relevant.
