(Los Angeles, CA) A woman died and ten others were hospitalized early Sunday following a Southbound 5 Freeway crash in Boyle Heights, where a big rig collided with multiple vehicles. The incident occurred around 5:10 a.m. Directly south of Fourth Street. One vehicle caught fire, leading to a physical rescue call from the Los Angeles Fire Department. At the scene, first responders assessed 15 individuals in total, with nine vehicles suffering significant front-end damage. Several patients with moderate injuries were transported to Adventist Health White Memorial by paramedics. The victim who died has been identified as 60-year-old Miriam Marroquin.
