(Phoenix, AZ) A crash on 67th Avenue, triggered by a drunk driver, led to the demise of Juan Andres Ortiz, 38, in west Phoenix, as per the Phoenix Police Department. Police officers arrived at the scene at approximately 3:15 a.m. to reports of an accident near 67th Avenue and Virginia Avenue, located just south of Thomas Road. Upon their arrival, the initial emergency personnel discovered Ortiz suffering from severe wounds. Despite attempts to save him, he passed away at the scene. Investigators stated that the accident happened when Ortiz turned left from southbound 67th Avenue onto Virginia Avenue. Meanwhile, 19-year-old Andy Lepe was driving a red sedan north at a fast speed without any headlights on. Eventually, he collided with Ortiz’s white pickup truck. Additionally, two individuals were transported to a close hospital for safety reasons. Police reported that Lepe exhibited signs of impairment and took him into custody at the location.
