On Saturday night, November 8, a man was fatally struck by a car on Wardlow Road in Long Beach, CA, as he was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The accident happened at approximately 9:05 p.m. close to the junction of Wardlow Road and Norwalk Boulevard. Officers who arrived at the scene discovered that the pedestrian was being treated by firefighters from Long Beach. After receiving treatment at the location, paramedics took him to a nearby hospital, where he later passed away. Police stated that initial investigations suggested a white Honda CR-V, operated by a 56-year-old woman from Garden Grove, was heading east on Wardlow Road. Eventually, she hit the man when he was in the middle of the street. The driver stayed at the location and assisted the investigators. The LBPD stated that speed, distracted driving, and impairment did not seem to contribute to the accident. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed by authorities while they wait to inform the family.
