A single-vehicle collision was reported Tuesday afternoon on southbound U.S. 101 near State Route 156 in the Monterey area. The California Highway Patrol classified the incident as a traffic collision with no reported injuries.
The crash was logged at approximately 3:34 p.m. on September 22, 2026. CHP’s location information identified the southbound side of U.S. 101 at or near the State Route 156 interchange.
A later CHP update at 3:52 p.m. said the vehicle might not be drivable. The vehicle had front-end damage, and its airbags had deployed.
The dispatch information identified one vehicle in the collision and did not report injuries, additional vehicles, or a request for medical assistance. The available update focused on the vehicle’s condition following the crash.
