Encino, CA (April 25, 2026) – One individual was killed early Saturday, April 25, following a multi-vehicle pileup on the northbound 101 Freeway in Encino. The incident took place just before 2:00 a.m. Just south of White Oak Ave. in the fast lane. Emergency units responded to reports of a disabled black sedan blocking the No. 1 lane with its hazard lights activated. Moments later, a person stepped out of the vehicle and was standing on the roadway when a multi-vehicle collision took place. Authorities stated that the crash involved four vehicles. Video from the scene captured one individual pinned beneath a vehicle, who was later declared dead on site. The identity of the deceased individual has not yet been disclosed. Traffic was severely disrupted, with northbound lanes initially completely shut down and subsequently partially reopened during cleanup. All lanes were reopened by approximately 9:00 a.m. .. The reason for the initial failure and following crash remains unknown.. Officials are still probing the crash’s cause, with further information to be shared as it emerges..
