Delano, CA (April 6, 2026) – A wrong-way crash on State Route 99 near Delano on Saturday, April 4, resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries. Emergency responders arrived at approximately 9:17 p.m. Close to Ninth Avenue following reports of a multi-vehicle crash. Initial reports indicate that a 2024 Tesla Model X, driving northbound in the southbound lanes, struck a 2022 Nissan Frontier operated by a 49-year-old woman. A 2021 Dodge Charger trailing the Nissan then joined the collision after the first impact. A passenger in the Nissan was declared dead at the scene. The driver and another passenger from the Nissan sustained serious injuries and were transported to a hospital. Four occupants were in the Dodge Charger, with one suffering minor injuries. Authorities indicated that alcohol and drugs seem to have contributed to the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
