San Diego, CA (March 13, 83) – A 67-year-old man was killed when his motorcycle crashed into a vehicle on Thursday morning, March 12, in the 9500 block of Balboa Avenue in Kearny Mesa. Emergency responders arrived shortly before 6:00 a.m. following reports of a crash at the Viewridge Ave. intersection Officials reported that the motorcyclist, riding westbound on a 2016 Triumph, proceeded through the intersection despite a red light. A 42-year-old man in a 2025 Chevrolet truck, traveling eastbound, was making a left turn onto northbound Viewridge Ave on a green light when a motorcycle collided with the front of his vehicle. The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The roadway, encompassing the 9400–9700 block of Balboa Avenue between Interstate 15 and Ruffin Road, remained closed until approximately 8:15 a.m. While responders managed the scene, authorities continue to investigate the crash, with more details to be released as soon as they become available.
