Hit-and-run crashes involving people using mobility devices often lead to serious outcomes. Scooters move at lower speeds and offer little protection in a collision. When drivers leave the scene, it can delay medical aid and complicate efforts to identify those responsible.. In Los Angeles, many major streets carry traffic at all hours of the day and night. Reduced visibility during overnight hours can increase the risk of collisions, especially for those traveling near busy intersections. Street lighting, driver attention, and speed all affect reaction time.. Mobility scooters are commonly used by people with limited movement. Because of their size and height, they may be harder for drivers to see, particularly in low-light conditions. Awareness and caution remain key factors in preventing these tragic incidents.
