Victorville, CA (August 15, 2025) – A motorcyclist was injured Friday morning in a hit-and-run crash involving a gray Honda Accord on the southbound side of Interstate 15 near Bear Valley Rd. The collision occurred around 9:13 a.m. and resulted in injuries to the rider, who was later found near the lanes with possible leg trauma.
According to California Highway Patrol dispatch, the suspect vehicle—a gray Honda Accord—was seen weaving in and out of lanes at high speed before the crash. After colliding with the black motorcycle, the driver fled the scene without stopping. The motorcyclist was initially able to stand and move off the roadway but later required emergency assistance for a potentially broken leg.
The motorcycle was moved to the center divider (CD) near a local cemetery south of Bear Valley Rd as crews worked to protect the injured rider and secure the scene. CHP officers remained on-site, and a tow was ordered for the damaged bike. Air Expressway Towing responded to the location, and CHP confirmed the incident would remain open for follow-up as part of an ongoing felony hit-and-run investigation.
The suspect has not yet been located.
Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Accidents on California Highways
Friday’s crash on I-15 highlights the unique vulnerability of motorcyclists on California’s high-speed corridors, especially in incidents involving hit-and-run drivers. With little protection beyond safety gear, motorcyclists face a much higher risk of injury in any crash—and the danger multiplies when the responsible driver flees the scene, delaying help and complicating accountability.
In this case, the rider was fortunate to remain conscious and mobile, though the suspected leg injury may require extensive recovery. Crashes caused by erratic or aggressive drivers—like the speeding Honda weaving through lanes—are a significant threat on major routes like I-15, particularly near high-traffic junctions such as Bear Valley Rd.
Hit-and-run offenses are serious crimes in California, especially when injuries are involved. Investigators often rely on witness statements, dashcam footage, and freeway surveillance to identify fleeing drivers. Victims are left not only with the physical toll but also the emotional strain of knowing the person responsible left them behind.
Motorcyclists injured by negligent or reckless drivers may face steep medical costs, time off work, and lasting physical effects—making access to proper recovery resources essential.
