Oakland, CA (September 29, 2025) – A troubling event occurred late Sunday afternoon on a highway close to 66th Avenue in Oakland, as several pedestrians were observed in distress on or around the center divide, leading to an emergency response. The incident was initially reported at approximately 5:15 p.m. on the 28th of September. Per radio communications from the California Highway Patrol, a group consisting of at least two young men was observed in close proximity to active traffic lanes. A man, thought to be approximately 20 years old, had a bandana covering his face. Another individual was seen in the median, wearing dark apparel and a ski mask. Observers noted that the people appeared to be injured, with one pedestrian allegedly grasping their knee and signaling to drivers for help. The situation raised major safety issues for the pedestrians present and the drivers approaching. An ambulance was summoned as a precautionary measure. CHP officials and emergency personnel arrived quickly to evaluate the injuries and guarantee the safety of everyone involved. The circumstances surrounding how the pedestrians ended up on the highway, as well as whether a vehicle was part of a previous incident, remain uncertain.
