Hesperia, CA (September 22, 2024) – A collision between a scooter and a car on Saturday night resulted in injuries to two young women in the 11800 block of Pinon Ave, as reported by local officials. The accident took place at approximately 7:25 p.m. On September 20, an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old were riding a scooter together. While moving down a dimly lit section of Pinon Ave, the duo was hit by a silver 2011 Kia Optima. Emergency services arrived promptly. One of the females sustained severe injuries and was first transported to Desert Valley Hospital. Because of the seriousness of her condition, she was subsequently transported by air to a regional trauma facility for more specialized treatment. The second rider sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital via ground ambulance, although the specific nature of those injuries has not been disclosed. Meanwhile, the driver of the Kia stayed at the location and worked with law enforcement. Reports indicate that the scooter was moving through a poorly illuminated area, and both riders were dressed in dark clothes, possibly affecting their visibility. The investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is ongoing to identify all factors involved. We extend our thoughts to the two young women as they heal from this severe accident.
