On the morning of Wednesday, September 24, 2025, a tragic multi-car accident involving a Corvette and a big rig resulted in the death of one man, as reported by FOX40 and the CHP Fatal. The California Highway Patrol stated that the incident occurred around 9:30 AM on the eastbound lane of U.S. Highway 50, just west of Howe Avenue. Investigators found that the collision was triggered when the driver of an Acura made an unsafe lane change, leading to a series of events that involved the silver Chevrolet Corvette. The action led the Acura to collide with the front right side of the Corvette. After the collision, the Corvette veered to the left into the first lane and came to a halt. At that moment, a diesel truck in the same lane collided with the Corvette from the rear. The impact of the collision resulted in the Corvette being trapped under the front of the large truck. Emergency responders arrived and attempted to rescue the driver, who was discovered unresponsive in the car. Emergency responders, including firefighters and paramedics, took him to a hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries around 10:50 AM. Authorities verified that three vehicles were involved in the incident. The truck experienced considerable damage to its front end, yet it did not lose any of its cargo. Cameras from Caltrans displayed traffic congestion in the region due to blocked lanes while the investigation and cleanup were underway. The CHP gathered accounts from the other drivers involved.
